Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

The short version: Tag Wrangler does not collect any personal data. It has no account system, sends nothing to us, and includes no analytics or tracking. Everything it does happens on your Mac.

Tag Wrangler is a native macOS app published by Marshland Software ("we," "us"). This policy explains how the app handles your information. It covers the Tag Wrangler application only.

1. Information we collect

None. Tag Wrangler does not ask you to create an account, does not include analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind, and makes no network requests to us or to any third party. We have no servers that receive your data because there is nothing sent to them.

2. What stays on your Mac

To do its job, the app stores some information locally on your computer. This never leaves your Mac and is never transmitted to us:

3. Your music files

Tag Wrangler reads your audio files to display their tags. It never renames, moves, uploads, or re-encodes them. When you turn on the opt-in Editing Mode, it writes the metadata tags you change directly into those files, in place. Your audio never leaves your computer.

4. Optional preset sync

If you choose to enable preset sync, the app writes a small settings file (sync.json) into a folder you select inside Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud Drive. That file contains your presets and app settings, not your music. Because it lives in your own cloud storage, it is handled by that provider under their privacy policy. We do not operate that sync, do not receive the file, and have no way to access it. Sync is single-user and last-writer-wins by design, so do not point two people at the same folder.

5. No third parties

The app bundles two open-source libraries for local functionality: TagLib (for reading and writing tags) and GRDB (for the local database). Neither connects to the internet or shares data. Tag Wrangler contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no social media trackers.

6. The Mac App Store

If you install Tag Wrangler from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and download and may collect its own information under Apple's privacy policy. Any figures Apple shares with us, such as download counts, are aggregated and anonymized. We never receive your name, email, or payment details from Apple.

7. Children

Tag Wrangler is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and revise the date above. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect material changes, but any that occur will appear here.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy or the app's handling of data can go to support@marshland.software.
